Fort Wright/Fort Randolph on the Mississippi river
Got in a little detecting this afternoon at where I believe is the original site of Fort Randolph, a river fort about 25 miles north of Memphis situated on a bluff 100 ft above the river. It afforded a view of 6 miles up and down the river. Fort Randolph, along with Fort Wright, was destroyed during the Civil War and never saw any action. I've never found any mention of what guns or what the troop strength was at Fort Randolph, but th
