Brushless Weapon Drive system

Our bots have always used BaneBots brushed drive and weapon systems. But I have noticed that other teams are using brushless systems for their weapons and they are getting their weapons to spin extremely fast! I have a few questions about how to go about implementing this in our bots. I am looking at putting brushless in our bot Snake Eyes. Drive motors?
Alright so I was at the SWPA bots iq competition today (15 lb class) and I noticed tha a lot of teams were using castle creations brushless motors with a 26:1 banebots gearbox gear ration. I considered using a monster max brushless for drive myself.
Brushless drivetrain??
Has anyone had any experience with brushless motors for a combat robot drivetrain...maybe with the Novak sensored setups or something similar? I heard of a few people playng with this a while back, but it seems to have all gone away???
LiPO,NiMH,Brush,Brushless???
Here is the deal. I need some new stuff for my touring car "Yokomo YR-4M 2 and I'm not sure what to go with. Is it possible to get a speed controller that will work for brush and brushless motors? What are the pros and cons of LiPO vs. NiMH batteries
